
In her early teens, Natalie was discovered in a pizza parlor by a Revlon agent. Portman didn't find Modeling very interesting and instead pursued a career in acting. Natalie has turned in some outstanding performances in her relatively brief career. Her big break was in 1994 when she co-starred as protégée for a hitman in Leon, aka The Professional also starring Jean Reno and Gary Oldman. A year later she starred in the highly acclaimed film Heat with Al Pachino and Robert DeNiro. In 1997, Natalie hit Broadway as lead actress in the play The Diary of Anne Frank. On May 19, 1999, Natalie premiered in her most high profile role yet in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace as Princess Leia & Luke Skywalker's biological mother, Queen Padme Naberrie Amidala of Naboo. Later that Spring she graduated from her high school class with honors and is now attending a notable university. She still has two more Star Wars films to complete and in the meantime, she keeps busy with other acting projects like the upcoming film "Where the Heart Is."
